We are all extremely proud of those agents in both BHG|RR (Yonkers) & RCS that answered the call to duty and endeavored to paint Jawonio’s Yonkers facility today. When Diana Hess @ Jawonio (Center for the Physically Disabled) called and asked if Rand could help painting some rooms because they didn’t have the money to paint their program rooms in Yonkers, I put one call out to Debbie DiMiceli and instantly the prayers of Jawonio were answered.
Debbie and her Yonkers team said, “YES!”
I wish you could have seen the faces of the clients and staff at Jawonio when the RAND TEAM made short shrift of the paint job! Both Rand and the folks at Jawonio benefited greatly from this beautiful act of kindness. Thought you might want to know

Congratulations to Rand Commercial Agent Christy Gendalia! It is our pleasure to inform you that she has been selected to receive a New York State Real Estate Education Foundation Scholarship.
The scholarship awarded, entitles Christy to attend the CIPS - Global Real Estate: Local Markets and the CIPS- Global Real Estate: Transaction Tools courses during the remainder of 2011 and throughout 2012.
Again, congratulations, and please let your agents and colleagues know about her good fortune so that they may be encouraged to participate in the scholarship program next year. Best wishes to Christy Gendalia in her educational endeavors and career successes!

As you know, we have all enjoyed our quarterly DAY OF LEARNING FIELD TRIPS because we get know more about how life functions in our region. Joining us on many of those DAY OF LEARNING FIELD TRIPS has been my dear friend, Diana Hess – Chief Communications Officer for Jawonio (Center for the Physically Disabled). Diana asked if we really wanted to change up our DAY OF LEARNING to a DAY OF GIVING BACK.
I jumped at the chance to say YES! Jawonio which has its roots in Rockland has a special center in Yonkers that needs some real help. No, this isn’t a request for dollars, but rather, your backbone.
Please join me and my incredible colleague Debbie DiMiceli (Yonkers BHG|RR Office Mgr.) along with 7 to 8 of her agents on 9/19 anytime from 9 to 5 at Yonkers Jawonio location (176 S. B’way) to help paint the interior of the building for those who need our love the most.
This DAY OF GIVING BACK will become the most significant DAY OF LEARNING we could ever participate in. PLEASE let me know if I can count on you to join us at some time during 19th in Yonkers.

After reading an article in the September issue of Entrepreneur Magazine by Erika Napoletano that got right to heart of how nonsensical words get in the way of doing business today, I was moved to be more aware of how we communicate with our clients and colleagues.
We are all tired of "buzzspeak" terms like: paradigm shift, in/out of the box, game-changer, drill down, synergistic etc. According to the article, these PC words seem to suck the soul out of your business.
Rand Commercial Services is a full service commercial real estate company in the Hudson Valley dedicated to brokering sales & leases along with helping our clients manage expectations of this ever changing real estate market.
Lessons Learned:
1. Keep it simple
2. Recognize the brilliance of your client - they chose you!
3. Time - don't waste yours or someone elses
4. Usability - offer easy to use solutions that make sense
Rand Commercial creates value for it's clients - leave the wordsmithing to the talking head and professional bloggers!
